چکیده

Background Traditionally, the plants were used for various diseases and disorders, including neuronal disorders. The present study was designed to evaluate neuroprotective effect of Acanthus maderaspatensis L. against colchicine induced neurobehavioral biochemical changes in Alzheimer’s disease rat model. Method Neuroprotective activity carried out by on Sprague-Dawley rats. Test group animals administrated with ethanol extract at dose 200, 400 600mg/kg 28 days. behavioral parameters assessed using Morris water maze test, Digital actophotometer Plus performed Days 0, 7, 14 intracerebroventricular administration assessing cognitive gross activities all groups. Biochemical parameter such as lipid peroxidation, glutathione, superoxide dismutase, catalase, total thiols acetylcholinesterase histopathology brain tissue final day experiment. Result Ethanol shows a dependent significant decrease time latency (p<0.001) plus increase locomotor EAM treated compared control group. showed decreases peroxidation increased dismutase catalase glutathione level groups Conclusion In conclusion, suggests that (EAM) possesses impairment associated oxidative stress

Neuroprotective effect of topiramate against 6-hydroxydopamine-induced cell death in Parkinson's disease cell mode

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive neuronal dysfunction. Growing evidence has shown that oxidative stress plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. Correspondingly, the current study evaluated the protective effect of topiramate in 6-hydroxydopamine induced oxidative stress and apoptosis in PC12 cells...

Neuroprotective effects of endurance training in 6-hydroxydopamine rat model of Parkinson’s disease

Introduction: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is characterized by progressive dopamine depletion in the striatum, and leads to mitochondrial and motor disorders. The present study investigated the effect of moderate endurance training on motor disorder and mRNA expression of PPAR-γ, PGC-1α and BDNF in 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) rat model of PD Materials and Methods: Thirty two male Wistar rats were di...

Neuroprotective effect of quercetin in a model of Parkinson’s disease in rat: A histochemical analysis

AbstractIntroduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neuropathological disorder involving the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, with the subsequent loss of their terminals in the striatum. Quercetin, a natural flavonoid, is a strong antioxidant and radical scavenger. Therefore, its neuroprotective effect in a model of Parkinson’s disease in rat was evaluated. Methods: ...

Neuroprotective Effects of Centella asiatica against Intracerebroventricular Colchicine-Induced Cognitive Impairment and Oxidative Stress

Oxidative stress appears to be an early event involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. The present study was designed to investigate the neuroprotective effects of Centella asiatica against colchicine-induced memory impairment and oxidative damage in rats. Colchicine (15 mug/5 muL) was administered intracerebroventricularly in the lateral ventricle of male wistar rats. Morris water ...

Neuroprotective Effects of a Standardized Flavonoid Extract from Safflower against a Rotenone-Induced Rat Model of Parkinson's Disease.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a major age-related neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra par compacta (SNpc). Rotenone is a neurotoxin that is routinely used to model PD to aid in understanding the mechanisms of neuronal death. Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius. L.) has long been used to treat cerebrovascular diseases in China. This plan...
